Terms of Service
Last updated: 26 April 2026
Please read these Terms of Service (“Terms”) carefully before using BriefWorks (“the Service”) operated by BriefWorks (“we”, “us”, “our”) at briefworks.io. By accessing or using the Service, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years of age and capable of entering into a legally binding contract to use the Service. By using BriefWorks, you represent and warrant that you meet these requirements. The Service is intended for business and professional use; it is not designed for consumers acting in a personal capacity.
2. The Service
BriefWorks is a software-as-a-service tool that generates data-engineered SEO content briefs using AI, keyword research, and SERP analysis. We provide the Service on an “as available” basis and reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of it at any time. Where practical, we will give reasonable advance notice of material changes.
3. Account Registration
You must provide accurate, complete, and current information when creating an account. You are responsible for:
- Maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials
- All activity that occurs under your account
- Notifying us immediately at hello@briefworks.io if you suspect unauthorised access
We reserve the right to disable accounts that violate these Terms.
4. Acceptable Use
You may use the Service only for lawful, business purposes. You must not:
- Violate any applicable laws or regulations
- Infringe the intellectual property rights of any third party
- Use the Service to generate content that is illegal, defamatory, hateful, or fraudulent
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the Service
- Systematically scrape, reproduce, or cache brief outputs at scale for resale or redistribution
- Attempt to circumvent credit limits, access controls, or rate limits
- Introduce malware, viruses, or other harmful code into the Service
- Use the Service in any way that could damage, overburden, or impair its infrastructure
- Resell or sublicense raw API access to the Service without our prior written consent
5. Credits, Plans, and Billing
Access to BriefWorks is governed by a credit system. Credits are allocated per billing period based on your plan and are consumed by service actions: 0.5 credit for a research brief (live SERP, GEO audit, structured outline) and 0.5 credit for an AI-generated article (single-pass drafting in your chosen voice with a built-in editorial polish pass). A full brief→article round-trip is 1 credit.
- Billing, paid plans are billed in advance on a monthly or annual cycle via PayPal.
- Credit rollover, unused credits do not roll over between billing periods unless your plan explicitly states otherwise.
- Price changes, we will give at least 30 days' notice of any price increase. Continued use after that date constitutes acceptance.
- Refunds, we handle refunds on a case-by-case basis. Contact us within 7 days of a charge if you believe it was made in error. We do not provide refunds for unused credits on active subscriptions.
- Cancellation, you may cancel your subscription at any time from your account settings. Access continues until the end of the current billing period.
6. Your Content and Inputs
You retain full ownership of any keywords, URLs, topics, or other materials you submit to the Service (“Inputs”). By submitting Inputs, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to process them solely for the purpose of generating your brief outputs and improving the Service. We do not claim ownership of your Inputs or outputs.
You are solely responsible for ensuring your Inputs do not infringe third-party rights. You must not submit confidential information belonging to others without authorisation.
7. Brief Outputs and AI-Generated Content
Brief outputs are generated using AI and third-party data sources. They are provided as research tools and starting points, not as professional advice. We make no guarantees regarding the accuracy, completeness, or SEO performance of any output. You are responsible for reviewing, editing, and fact-checking all outputs before use.
Outputs generated by BriefWorks are yours to use commercially without restriction, subject to any applicable third-party terms (e.g. Anthropic's usage policies).
8. Intellectual Property
The BriefWorks platform, brand, logo, software, and underlying methodology are owned by us or our licensors. Nothing in these Terms transfers any of our intellectual property rights to you. You may not use our brand or marks without our prior written consent.
9. Confidentiality
Each party agrees to keep the other's confidential information strictly confidential and not to disclose it to third parties, except as required by law or with the disclosing party's prior written consent.
10. Disclaimer of Warranties
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Service is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any defects will be corrected.
11. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, BriefWorks shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, punitive, or consequential damages, including but not limited to loss of profits, loss of data, business interruption, or reputational harm, arising out of or in connection with your use of the Service.
Our total aggregate liability to you for any claims arising under or in connection with these Terms shall not exceed the total fees you paid to us in the 3 months immediately preceding the event giving rise to the claim.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot be excluded by law.
12. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless BriefWorks and its officers, employees, and agents from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or in connection with: (a) your use of the Service in violation of these Terms; (b) your Inputs or brief outputs; or (c) your infringement of any third-party rights.
13. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your account immediately if you breach these Terms, engage in fraudulent or abusive behaviour, or if required by law. We will endeavour to notify you unless prohibited from doing so. Upon termination, your right to access the Service ceases immediately. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination (including Sections 6, 8, 11, 12, 14, and 15) shall continue to apply.
14. Dispute Resolution
We encourage you to contact us at hello@briefworks.io first to resolve any dispute informally. If a dispute cannot be resolved within 30 days, either party may pursue formal legal proceedings in accordance with Section 15.
15. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. Both parties irrevocably submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales to resolve any dispute arising out of or in connection with these Terms.
16. General
- Entire agreement, these Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and BriefWorks regarding the Service and supersede all prior agreements.
- Severability, if any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.
- No waiver, failure to enforce any provision of these Terms does not constitute a waiver of our right to enforce it in the future.
- Assignment, you may not assign or transfer your rights under these Terms without our prior written consent. We may assign our rights freely.
- Force majeure, we are not liable for any failure or delay in performance resulting from causes beyond our reasonable control, including infrastructure outages, natural disasters, or changes in law.
17. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify registered users of material changes by email at least 14 days before they take effect and update the “Last updated” date above. Your continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
